Project Summary

UBC is one of the world’s leading institutions in biodiversity research. The University ranks #1 in Canada and between 5th and 8th globally in Ecology, Biodiversity Conservation, and Evolution. This prominence is largely the result of an exceptional group of 74 faculty who comprise the Biodiversity Research Centre (BRC).

The Beaty Biodiversity Centre Addition project is an addition to the existing Beaty Biodiversity Centre (BBC), which houses the Biodiversity Research Centre (BRC) and the Beaty Biodiversity Museum (BBM). The addition will provide much-needed space for expansion of research and museum activities including research and office space for additional faculty and staff, including new hires and growing teams; provide space to develop and extend partnerships; and provide additional space to accommodate the BBM’s growth in collections and exhibits and enhanced programming and public outreach.
