Bert Tempel is the successful candidate for the position of Project Coordinator (Mechanical) in Project Services within Infrastructure Development. Bert will be starting at Project Services on September 13, 2021.
Bert joined UBC in 2001 with a sheet metal trades certification. He has spent 20 years in Building Operations’ Sheet Metal Shop where he developed extensive experience and knowledge in the construction of mechanical systems, building maintenance, HVAC systems renewal, and managing all metal related work on campus; including appointments as both the Subhead and Head of the Sheet Metal Shop.
In 2017, Bert was appointed Head, Sheet Metal where he has been responsible for managing a broad spectrum of sheet metal projects. Areas of responsibility have included project scope development, estimating, materials procurement, scheduling and promotion of health & safety within the Sheet Metal Shop. Bert’s strong mechanical knowledge, coupled with the many relationships he has built across campus, will be key to his success in his new role.
