Darren Wong joined UBC in 1998 as a project designer, and has been with Project Services since 2011 as an Associate Project Manager. Over the years, Darren’s portfolio continues to grow, working on various renovations, public art, and accessibility related projects. Some of his projects include the installation and raising of the Reconciliation Pole, a 55-foot red cedar pole carved by 7idansuu (Edenshaw), James Hart, Haida Hereditary Chief and Master Carver; and ‘The Shadow’, a 100-metre long shadow cast of a first-growth Douglas fir tree, a public artwork as part of UBC’s Outdoor Art Collection with the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery.
Darren is a graduate from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia with a Masters of Architecture, and has worked in various architectural firms prior to joining UBC.
