Barbara (Barb) Gordon has accepted the position of Manager, Capital Planning with Infrastructure Development effective April 1, 2019. Barb will be reporting to Suzanne Poohkay, Director, Capital Planning & Strategic Project Development, with a dotted line to Jennifer Sanguinetti, Managing Director.
Barb is currently a Senior Planner with Facilities Planning within Infrastructure Development and has been with UBC since 2002. She has had a strong impact on the planning, development, renewal and renovation of campus facilities.
This new role formalizes much of the work Barb has been undertaking with management of the routine capital program. She will continue to coordinate with Building Operations, Energy & Water Services, and Facilities Planning to identify and prioritize routine capital projects for cyclical maintenance and renewal of building systems, municipal infrastructure and utility systems. She will also be contributing to the major capital planning and prioritization process.
Barb is a Registered Professional Architect (Architect AIBC), with 17 years of experience in private practice prior to joining UBC – involved in the design of a wide variety of building types including theatres, non-profit housing, and commercial projects. Barb’s knowledge, background and experience in relationship and consensus building will serve her well in this new role.
