After months of anticipation, the new 2.0 megawatt backup generator for the Life Sciences Centre has arrived. This 28,000 lbs. backup generator was set out for delivery before the crack of dawn, en route from Langley to the UBC Vancouver campus.
The new 2.0 megawatt backup generator will help reduce the equipment load of the existing generator and increase its reliability. This project has been underway since January of this year and is estimated to be completed by end of September 2017.
The project is currently underway and will require some testing and commissioning of the generator before it is up and running. We appreciate the overwhelming patience and support of the campus community and are pleased with the success of the delivery.
